Overview

Of all the ways to describe mergers and acquisitions over the last one year, “plain vanilla” is not one. A significant share of deals in 2016-17 is coming from mega deals valued above $5 billion. Certainly, optimism among executives is high. Boardrooms have been flooded with such confidence that executives went far beyond the textbook-style acquisitions. Deal-making is now being characterized by complex and creative financial structures.

According to a merger market M&A trend report, India is becoming an increasingly influential M&A market with M&A activity reaching $64.5 billion in 2016, comprising 8.8% of the overall Asia Pacific deals market, the highest figure since 2007. M&A deals involving Indian companies increased to 82% in the first half of 2016 with online businesses leading this trend.

Will the momentum continue in 2017?

Against this context, Mint – India’s most awarded business daily from the Hindustan Times group presented an agenda-setting conference getting all relevant stakeholders under one roof discussing perspectives in the current scenarios and predictions going forward- Mint DealMakers Forum: Perspectives and Predictions 2017
