The health insurance industry in India grew at about 16% in 2015, which is more than twice the rate at which India’s gross domestic product (GDP) is growing. The sector is witnessing an upheaval with new companies coming in, new products being launched and strategic tie-ups with bank.

With out-of-pocket healthcare expenses of Indians being amongst the highest in the world, there is an urgent need to ramp up the health insurance coverage in the country.
