It has been an eventful journey for the world’s sixth largest economy in recent years. As valuations touched new highs in both public and private markets, the pre-eminence of private capital as a viable alternative to traditional sources of capital has been one of the main highlights of the India story. Global investors in the last few years have made record exits from Indian markets and continue to remain bullish on the future. They have already committed close to $40 billion in India-focused private equity (PE) dry powder in 2018. Concerns, however, remain. For one, uncertainty over piling bad loans in the banking system and the resulting credit squeeze is said to have brought capacity utilization down, choking growth and exposing the underlying dichotomy.
The Mint India Investment summit will bring together the most respected global and Indian investments minds and thought leaders to crystal gaze on how the India story will unfold in the coming months.
