Thakur Pherwani, CSO, TVS Motor Company

Thakur Pherwani belongs to an exclusive league of young EHS & Sustainability leaders. He has spearheaded impactful initiatives with leading companies such as Cadbury’s, Unilever, Perfetti Van Melle, Coca-Cola, Amazon, Dr Reddy’s, now CSO at TVS Motor Company and VP South Region at UNGC Network India.

With a career spanning more than two decades, he has established solid technical expertise by working in cross-industrial and multi-faceted areas of ESG/sustainability governance, safety, health, and environmental management systems. His key initiatives, such as ‘My Sustainability Index,’ ‘My Safety Index,’ and ‘My Health Index,’ are leading benchmarks and established Global standards.

Because of his accomplishments, the National Safety Council—US awarded him the prestigious “Rising Star of Safety” award in 2013. In 2018, the worldwide EHS Amazon recognised him as the “Ultimate Innovator.” Transformance India team recognised him as “Top 20 Sustainability Leaders” award in 2023. Frost and Sullivan team recognised him as “Sustainability Transformation Champion of the Year” award in 2025.

Thakur is driving the Safety and Sustainability culture change at India’s top 2-wheeler TVS Motor company. He is an inspiring voice on maximising positive outcomes for the business, people, and the environment. He is facilitating the integration of the ESG roadmap into the core strategy, for the business and also double hatting as south region VP at UNGC Network India for faster forward UN SDG agenda in south region.

He is in the process of implementing strategic, evidence-based sustainability initiatives at the organisation.
