T. N. Hari, Executive Chairman, Steer World

Hari is currently the Executive Chairman of Steer World, a group of deep-tech companies in the space of advanced manufacturing, materials technologies, lifesciences, and sustainable materials.

He spent two decades as part of the leadership team at five high growth startups in domains as varied as business process outsourcing, information technology, financial services, consumer internet and e-commerce. Each of these startups (Daksh, Virtusa, Amba Research, TaxiForSure, and Bigbasket) saw a successful exit including an IPO on NASDAQ, and three of these went on to become Unicorns. At each of these startups, Hari played a key role in shaping their growth and exit.

Hari started his career at Tata Steel and played leadership roles in Engineering, Project Management, and Human Capital. He played a key role in helping restructure the company to cope with post-liberalization challenges.

Hari has also played an active role in shaping the startup ecosystem in the country and is respected as a thought leader and an influencer. He has been a prolific author and has authored 8 books so far, mostly centered around different aspects of building and scaling start-ups. Each of these books has been a category leader. His book ‘Winning Middle India’ won the Gaja Business Book Prize for 2023.His other popular books include, ‘Saying No to Jugaad – The Making of Bigbasket’, ‘From Pony to Unicorn – Scaling a Startup Sustainably’, and ‘Diversity Beyond Tokenism – Why Being Politically Correct Doesn’t Help Anyone’.

Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing & Service), Hyundai Motor India

Mr. Tarun Garg has more than 28 years of Automobile experience across diverse areas of Marketing and Sales. His skill sets include Strategic as well as operational
management of Sales volume and market share, Revenues/Contribution across all areas of Sales and marketing and Dealer Relationships and Channel development.

He joined Maruti Suzuki in the year 1994 directly from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. During his stay there, Mr Garg has worked in almost all
areas related to Marketing and Sales like Planning, Field Sales, Commercial Head, National Sales Head, NEXA channel, Marketing Head, Parts and Logistics etc. Mr Garg
joined his current organization, Hyundai Motor India in Dec’19 as Director (Sales, Marketing and Service) and he is now heading the vertical.

Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy Pvt Ltd

Tarun Mehta, graduated from IIT Madras with a degree in Engineering Design (Dual Degree 2012). Along with Swapnil Jain, he conceptualised and started ‘Ather Energy’ in April 2013. Ather developed India’s first smart electric scooter that aims to revolutionise two-wheeler driving in India. At IIT, Tarun was associated with various product development teams and actively involved with the entrepreneurship ecosystem (C-TIDES). He worked on more than a dozen prototypes over a wide range of topics and has six co-patents (pending) under his name. Driven by his core interest towards electric vehicles, Tarun quit his job at Ashok Leyland in the year 2012 to start work on battery packs which is one of the biggest existing shortcomings in electric vehicles today. Eventually, realising that the problem isn’t just the battery pack, the team was drawn to the idea of designing and building a completely new electric vehicle.

As CEO at Ather Energy, Tarun drives the strategic thinking for the company while also liasoning with government agencies to create EV supportive eco-systems and effectively managing internal and external stakeholders, all with a stubborn vision of delivering the best experience to Ather’s customers. He represented Ather in the ‘Technical Advisory Group for Electric Mobility’, to the Government of India. He also led the Electric Vehicle group in the Champions of Change program organised by Niti Aayog.

Tarun and Swapnil were listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 in 2018 and Fortune 40 under 40 list in 2017, 2019 & 2021 for their innovative product that is disrupting the Indian auto industry.
