Padmaja Ruparel, Co-Founder & President of, Indian Angel Network (IAN)

Padmaja Ruparel is the Founding Partner of the IAN Fund, a uniquely differentiated Rs. 450 crores (~$70mn) Fund which along with IAN, is set to create the largest horizontal platform in India for investing in seed and early stage ventures. She is also the Co-Founder & President of IAN, India's first & one of the world’s largest group of business angels, comprising the who's who of successful entrepreneurs and dynamic CEOs from India and overseas.

Padmaja is a Co-Chair of Global Business Angel Network. She also operationalised TiE Delhi, which has been ranked as the number one chapter globally for the last 4 consecutive years. She played a key role as Executive Director in building the Indian Venture Capital Association, India's oldest and largest association of VC and PE firms. In addition, she helped the creation of Lankan Angel Network in Sri Lanka. She contributed actively in the Planning Commission’s Committee on “Angel & Early Stage Investing in India” which resulted in a seminal report: “Creating a Vibrant Entrepreneurial Eco system in India”. She is on the Committee of Telecom Centre of Excellence, Selection Committee of MSME and is actively engaged with the various committees of Ministry of Finance, SEBI, etc.

Padmaja is nationally recognised as a key player in the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem and has helped co-found many of the relevant institutions, besides being an active Angel investor herself. Her operating experience spans large corporates, M&A, and start-ups/early stage companies. She has been awarded as one of the 'Top 50 Most Powerful Women in Business' by Fortune India and has been listed in Forbes India’s W-Power Trailblazers and ‘30 Most Powerful Women in India’ by Business Today.

Pankaj is a tech entrepreneur and a former scientist from IIT-Delhi, with over 20 years of experience across building start-ups, fundraising, forging strategic alliances, and policy frameworking. He has an illustrious track record of founding and/or working on biotech start-ups in the areas of drug discovery, nano-medicine and computational biology.

In the past, he has worked closely with the Planning Commission of India, and has also been closely associated with various Government bodies on developing policy frameworks around biotechnology and nanotechnology.

At Log9, Pankaj is responsible for forming partnerships and alliances, Government policy frameworking advocacy, strategic planning and spearheading the people function at Log9.

Parth Jindal*, MD, JSW Cement

Parth Jindal earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2016 and his Bachelor in Arts in Economics and Political Science from Brown University in 2012.

Parth Jindal joined the $22 Bn JSW Group in 2012, prior to which he spent 2 years working abroad, starting with a hedge fund in New York before spending considerable time in Japan working for JFE Steel (JV Partners of JSW Steel).

Today, Parth Jindal is the Managing Director of JSW Cement (currently a $600 Mn organisation with 17 MTPA capacity and is being steered towards 25 MTPA capacity by 2024), Managing Director of JSW Paints (launched in May 2019), Director of JSW Energy, Founder of JSW Sports that owns and manages ISL 2018-19 Champions Bengaluru FC, Pro-Kabaddi League team Haryana Steelers and is Chairman and Co-Owner of Delhi Capitals. Parth Jindal is also the Founder of Inspire Institute of Sport (a visionary project to elevate India’s Olympic caliber), Director of JSW Ventures and Director of JSW USA.

Under his stewardship, JSW Sports was honored with the “Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar 2018”, by the President of India, for Encouragement to Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility. He is the youngest Business Leader on the ‘2019 Economic Times 40 under Forty’ list, ‘GQ’s 50 Most InfluentialYoung Indians for 2018’ and felicitated by News24 as 2018 Youth Icon for his contribution to the Nation. As Director Bengaluru FC, Parth was elected unopposed as Vice President of the Western India Football Association.

At the Group level, Parth continues to lead and provide direction to the Human Resources, Information Technology and digital functions.


Parth Shah, Co-Founder, Indian School of Public Policy

Parth J. Shah is the founder president of Centre for Civil Society and the founder of National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), a federation of 80,000 budget private schools in India. Dr. Shah’s research and advocacy work focuses on the themes of economic freedom (law, liberty and livelihood campaign), choice and competition in education (fund students, not schools), property rights approach for the environment (terracotta vision of stewardship), and good governance (new public management and the duty to publish). He has edited and published extensively in international and Indian journals and popular press on various issues ranging from currency regulation to education policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Auburn University, and has taught at the University of Michigan. He has been a visiting faculty at JNU and MS University and has served on the Senate of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and of Tamil Nadu. He has been a member of several state and union government task forces, including the education task force of the governments of Delhi and Karnataka. He recently joined the Board of Directors of the Atlas Network, USA.
